Temples in Kullu Valley: Most spectacularly built Basheshwar Mahadev Temple is the largest in the chain of temples in Kullu Valley. The toughest temple to reach is Bijli Mahadev Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it derives its name from the old incident that the shivling of this temple used to be shattered by lightening many a time. Bhuvneshwari Temple is another temple built in line with the Bijli Mahadev Temple. Located on the National Highway near Kullu is Vaishno Devi Temple. Raghunath Temple, dedicated to the patron deity of Kullu is the site of the famous Kullu Dusshera festivals. Ancient story reveals that Lord Rama performed the Ashwamedha Yajna here in front of the idol of Raghunathji.
